from 15twenty's site:

"As you all may know, a 7.0 magnitude Earthquake had recently struck Haiti leaving people in desperate need to everyday essentials and medical attention. If everyone donates $1 by buying a cupcake or a $1 garment (all proceeds to go to theRed Cross), you can make a difference in helping the citizens of Haiti rebuild their lives. They need your help.
Please come out this Sunday!

so happy to realize that we will have cordon bleu culinary school students as customers as well . . . it is a pleasure to speak with real foodies and to have their support!!!!!
http://www.cordonbleu.edu/ located across the street at the arclight complex.
a fun trend to think of is the way entertainment industries interact with the possibility of a more responsible way of interacting with the earth.
we are so lucky to have a position of influence.
a platform from which to articulate the possibility of health and respect for the earth.
to be in los angeles has a certain catastrophic quality to it taking into account the decades of infrastructure snafus, the lack of city-wide recycling, the un-bike-friendliness, the car culture, the smog . . .
but
we have so many beautiful spots around town. cru, euphoria, leaf . . .
and we also have prop 65 and the awareness of consumer safety issues
like acrylamide in cooked foods---which california attorney general fought for labeling for all fried potato products---and a new formula for lays and kettle chips---and at what point this is corporate defamation or consumer safety at play???
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acrylamide
or heterocyclic amines with mutagenic properties . . .

but what we do have is exciting!!!! here at lifefood, we aren't just delighting the palate with kind ecological foods. i knew from the moment i heard about the earliest stages of conceptualization that this kind of operation is more about a philosophy of respect towards the earth and ecosystem.
before i knew her, i found annie jubb on the youtube video with daryl hannah. they were making brazil nut milk. daryl was a hero to me after reading about her work with the community garden in southcentral. and then there was her streak for peace!!!!
when i first met xavier, he was telling me about a film about the bees.
vanishing of the bees
and then i saw the sculpture in his studio using recycled woven plastic bags---illustrating plasticity and the crisis of petrochemical madness.
the eternal nature of plastics . . . and then i was thinking of all the nurdles in the ocean . . . the plastic pellets. the creatures eating them. weird fishes.
and endocrine disruption, pthalate regulation, leeching, the mythologies of the recycling class, the fluctuations of the recycling industries . . .
and then i saw the model for the zero-energy consuming skate park with solar panels . . .
the macarthur park garden revitalization project was underway . . .
and this idea:
a spot in hollywood with legendary Annie Jubb of NYC's Jubb's Longevity seemed a transcendant dream.
laurel brought in some rad music and we're rocking out to the yeahyeahyeahs and to the dead weather today!!!!
i love the new generation of empowering girls!!!! and hey allison mosshart's vegan too maybe . . .
well---i know what the scene is like in Nashville where the jack white studios are resurrecting the old blues . . . . it's deep-fried . . .
now if we get some la roux, MIA, and yelle, and ladyhawke's vegan glory roaring!!!
listening to some radiohead . . .
and kudos to thom yorke, vegan and eco-activist who had a great hurrah up there at the COP 15 copenhagen climate conference/fiasco.
thom yorke says no! video from the guardian.co.uk
hey, what is so rad too is becoming connected to the neighborhood.
for instance my pal andy clockwise has a show at hotel cafe tonight a block away.
and i just saw trip of the thunder from heaven scene. and the people watching is full of the cutest of daytime hollywood.
i told andy to come by and sample some organics. i've been having fantasies about feeding rockers healthy juices and organic things for a while now.
that is only because i want them to have bowie-esque immortality and perfect skin---
and what about the greening of music festivals????
i was so happy to see lollapalooza's amazing commitment to a more ecological response, education and interactive recycling incentives, refillable water bottles . . .
note to self run some menus over to the the ivar library---i heard the librarians are starving
so to explain the basics:
its vegan
organic
mostly raw
with the exceptions of a local raw goat cheese
or bee pollen and honey in a few things!!!!
so all you hungry vegans out there, ask questions!
we are delighted to make it your world!!!!!
and thanks to kristina rohr for her dedication to ecological journalism
http://naturalla.com/
and hey is anybody else noticing the disparity between the guardian's environmental/ethical coverage compared to american press????
we have some good things happening here but the knowledge base has to transform---and transcend the fake science and corporate brainwashing.

i didn't think i needed to see Food, Inc. but it was really concise.

and thanks to Naheed for recommending The Cove about the dolphin hunt. i hope to check it out soon.

just for the record, my anthropology class at LACC is rocking, and wonderfully ties a lot of my interests together, especially the primatology and evolutionary diet forces
the gorilla diet of greens
and the high energy of frugivores . . .
my teacher is a specialist in mysticism and herbal healing in Camaroon and i was up till four or so reading his dissertation here: an
occult system of knowledge in camaroon
i heard there is a center for expecting mothers at vine and fountain
http://www.pumpstation.com/
for sure those expectant mommies might like something organic for their neonatal stages . . .
ps
heard floyd's at selma and cahuenga is giving 12$ haircuts for their grand opening . . .

and our love to the beautiful
